VENILIL is a small hobby kennel located on the South East Coast of Attica, in Greece.
We breed parti-colour cockers and our aim is to breed quality, healthy puppies, which combine the correct type and temperament of a true English Cocker Spaniel and can make either excellent family pets or show dogs.
 

The love for the breed started when, LEFTERIS BAROUTSAKIS (kennel owner) met for the first time in 1980 a blue roan cocker, called Nicky. He was from the very famous and old classic kennel, Craigleith. The decision was clear. If ever happened to own a dog, that would be an English Cocker Spaniel and a particolour one.

In 1996, OSCAR came into our family. He was a very dark blue roan cocker, super smart and lively dog. Unfortunately we lost him in 2005 due to a blood disease he had from when he was a puppy, but he lived 9 years full of happiness and he taught us so much about the breed and showing that we are forever grateful to him.

In 2001, OLIVER came to Greece, our first cocker import from the very famous kennel Of Ware. Having a dog like Oliver, who carries such a great history is a big honour for us and words like "Thank you" are not enough to express how grateful we are to Mrs Jennifer Lloyd Carey for trusting us such a precious cocker.

In 2005, after a few years of showing Oliver and getting deeper and deeper into the art of showing/breeding, we decided to bring our foundation bitch. At that time our mind was made up for exactly what we were looking for so kennel Lynwater was the one that we chose for our first female to start our breeding. LILLY came in August 2005 and then we could finally start planning our own future kennel.

In 2007, we made our kennel name registration, VENILIL (65/07 FCI KOE) that we came up with from Oliver's nickname, Venio & Lilly's name, since this would be the first official mating of our kennel. So, our first litter was born in July 2007 and we decided to keep a male puppy for showing. Lewis was "the one" and what a choice it has been, making us very proud inside and outside the ring, fulfilling every kind of expectation we had.

 

Since 2007 we've had only 2 litters, which proves that our aim is NOT to breed for money, fame and glory. Our dogs don't live in kennels but inside the house like pets, as they are a part of our family and we want to spend every minute of our life with them.
 

All dogs at Venilil are trained, groomed and handled by EMILY BAROUTSAKI (daughter of L.B) who has been involved with dogs from a very young age, and shares the same passion for breeding and showing like her dad.
